Marma Therapy is a 5000 year old Ayurvedic practice, an ancient form of Shiatsu derived from the Siddhars (Sages said to have magical & mystical powers) of India. Marma Therapy focuses on opening the Nadis (main energy channels of the body) for healing the body, mind & spirit. Marmas are junction points situated throughout the body where veins, ligaments, muscles, bones and joints meet, and they are also energy vortexes which connect these energy lines throughout the body. By applying pressure to marmas, stagnant energy is cleared and Prana (vital life force energy) can circulate freely. This therapy has an immediate healing and relaxing effect on the body & rejuvenates the entire body-mind, aiming to eliminate toxic imbalances and restore resistance & good health. There are 107 vital points in the body (108 being the mind). We begin by warming up specific areas of the body, using oil, with invigorating series of movements (gliding strokes, clapping, palm pressure, kneading) followed by applied pressure to Marmas to open these subtle energy channels. Marma Therapy is said to be Ayurveda’s energy healing practice.
